Obituary of Raymond Joseph Morgan

Raymond J. Morgan, 97, passed away on January 27, 2020 at Juniper Village, Chatham, NJ, where he lived for over 13 years. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, and lived in Somerset, NJ, Newark, NJ and New York prior to moving to Chatham. Raymond was a veteran of World War II and proudly served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 where he attained the rank of Sergeant. After his discharge from the Army, he resumed his education at Ohio State University and graduated in 1947 with a BS in Foreign Trade. After graduation, he worked at Bordens, New York City. He worked most of his career as a Marketing Manager for Chase Chemical Company, Newark, from 1961 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church, Chatham. Raymond is survived by his devoted daughter, Emily Morgan O’Dell and her husband, Robert, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Thomas O’Dell and his wife, Carolyn, and Katie O’Dell and his great-granddaughter, Madeline O’Dell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne von Phul Morgan, his brother, Clifford Morgan and his sister, Dolores Lauber. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 10:00am at Corpus Christi Church, Chatham, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to Corpus Christi Church, Chatham, NJ, or the Disabled American Veterans (dav.org).
