Christopher B. Kennett Ph.D., 77, of Morris Plains NJ, passed away April 9, 2020 at Morristown Medical Center. Born in Chicago IL, Christopher has been residing in Morris Plains for the past 23 years. Christopher graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1960. He went on to study and graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BA in Sociology in 1967, then William Paterson College with an MA in Natural History of Science in 1970. Chris earned a Ph.D. at Fordham University in Evolutionary Behavioral Ecology in 1980. Chris was a man of many interests, hobbies and activities and was always looking for a way to help friends and volunteer with organizations. Most recently, Christopher became a Certified Nutritional Consultant and a Member of The American Association of Nutritional Consultants. Prior to this, he owned Kennett Enterprises during which he worked in Application Programs and System Administration for a variety of companies, ranging from optometry and medical programs to containerized freight tracking. He also owned Key Media in which he did website design. He had an interest Video Editing, Videography, and Videographics. Christopher had a passion for being a Teacher in the Sciences. He was a Secondary School Science Teacher at Gustave Straubenmuller JHS, NYC and Saddle River Country Day School in NJ. Chris also taught as an Assistant Professor at Ladycliff College in Highland Falls NY, Pace University NY and Montclair State College in NJ. Christopher was very involved with the Scouting organization. He developed projects for the Cub Scouts, was an active member of the Boy Scouts, having earned his Wood Badge, and more recently joined The Flintlocks who are retired scouters involved in maintaining and improving camp facilities for Scouts. In his spare time, Christopher also gave his time to many other organizations including the Community Children’s Museum of Dover and Liberty Science Center for which he designed and built exhibitions and Habitat for Humanity, where he assisted in building homes. Christopher also enjoyed wood-carving, cooking, hiking, rock-climbing and teaching at every opportunity he could. Christopher is survived by his wife Shar Kennett MD, his cherished son, Jonathan A. Kennett, and also beloved brother and sister-in-law, Tim Kennett and Becca Kennett of Tampa, FL, and his caring nieces and nephews, Joe Kennett, Leah Kennett, Tom Kennett and Regan Knight. The Kennett family is concerned about the well-being of those they love and care about. Funeral Services will be private at this time. We ask that you please keep Christopher's family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Arrangements are under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains.
