Anthony ("Tony") DeSantis, 86, of Morris Township, NJ passed away on January 24, 2021. Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home in Madison, NJ will be handling all arrangements. Tony was born in Newark, NJ to Giacomo and Fiorita DeSantis on August 29, 1934. He went to high school at East Orange High School and graduated in 1952. He went on to earn a B.A. in Science Education from Rutgers University in 1956, and then a M.A. in Science Education from Montclair State University. He worked as a science teacher at Chatham Township High School for his entire career. He was a football, basketball and softball coach for many years and led the 1966 Men’s Basketball team to the North II Group State Championship. He encouraged many of his students to compete in NJ State Science Day competitions who then, often, won top honors. Tony is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Elaine Farkas DeSantis. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Elia Bollo, brother Dominick DeSantis, bother-in-law Mario Bollo, sister-in-law Rosalind DeSantis and brother-in-law Richard Grey. He will be missed by his sister, Theresa DeSantis, and brothers Jack DeSantis and his wife Gwendolyn, brother Nicholas and sister-in-law Janice Grey; his children Diane Guidone and her husband Paul Guidone of Hanover, NH and Madison, NJ, David DeSantis and his wife Karen DeSantis of Hillsborough, NJ and son Douglas DeSantis of Los Angeles, CA; his grandchildren Major Matthew Guidone (U.S. Army) and his wife Jessica, Gregory Guidone and is wife Kathryn, Kathryn Guidone, Simone DeSantis and her husband Chris Mikkin and Alex DeSantis; and beautiful great-granddaughters Alayna, Elisabeth and Alexandra; as well as his many loving nephews and nieces.
