Where do I begin to share memories of Laurie. I guess I can begin when we lived in Springfield 36 years ago and we would let our boys play together in our backyards while she and I raked leaves, mowed the lawn, clean gutters, or just fixed general things around each other’s homes together. One day I borrowed her hedge trimmer which was really Avery’s, after she was done trimming her shrubs and she said to me “Lynn, now be careful not to cut the cord.” I have course replied with, “oh my God Laurie I’m not going to cut it!”
Well you can guess what happened, I bought a new extension cord.Sometimes when we would be out and people would ask us what we did for a job we would say that we were partners in the Laurilyn Construction Company as we figured that was appropriate since we really were kind of jack of all trades if you want to say that. We would laugh hysterically when people would walk away after we told them all our made up stories and couldn’t believe they really believed our bullshit. She was Ethel to my Lucy. And we could just play off each other as we made these stories up. Sometimes if we were out for a drink we would “people watch” and try and figure out what careers people had. Then we would make up silly stories about what we thought their lives were like and of course they made no sense, were hysterical and we laughed until we left. Laurie was the only person I could go shopping with. When we would end up in a dressing room together trying on clothes she would always grab my bra straps and pull them up and say “See how much better that looks.” then politely say; “Lynn, YOU HAVE GOT TO GET NEW BRAS!”
And of course we could never walk by the cosmetic counters without her stopping, looking at all the new lipstick colors, trying to convince me that I really needed to buy and wear lipstick. She never succeeded!!.
We cared about each other so much that we could be completely honest. We had no problem telling each other that; you looked fat in that shirt or don’t ever wear that outfit again!
Laurie was MY PERSON!
We shared secrets with each other that we will take to our respective graves. We were each other’s confidant, and listening board. We could make each other see things from different perspectives.
I could go on and on about all the shenanigans that Laurie and I did, laughed at and truly enjoyed together but there’s not enough space on this page.
I miss her so much already and just wish I could call her. And of course her voicemail box would be completely full. Whenever Laurie and I were together I would say; “give me your phone. I’m emptying your damn voice mailbox because it’s full again!” I just wish I could still do that today, tomorrow and every day! My heart is empty and will be for a very very long time as there really isn’t anybody that can fill her shoes, and yeah she always complained she had big feet and could never find the shoes she liked in her size.
So to Gary, Brent, Greg, and Christen, I share your pain and sorrow but I know she is still around and will watch over all of us and send us some signs from time to time.
All my love guys, Lynn

Laurie will be missed by so many. It's hard to imagine a world without her in it. I like to think she's sharing a good laugh with grandpa right now. I know her memory will live on through all of us.
