Obituary of David B Ward

David B. Ward, 66, died Saturday, March 25, 2017, following an extended illness. His family was by his side. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan Farley; his 2 daughters, Carolyn Ward and Donna Ward; his sister, Kim Ward Fous; a niece, Nicole Fous-Long, and 3 nephews, Christopher Fous, Blake Alspach, and Jay Alspach. Raised in Chatham Township, the son of Wallace and Jean Ward, he was a resident of Madison since 1979. David attended Cornell University from 1968-1970 and then transferred to NJIT (formerly Newark College of Engineering) where he graduated 6th in his class with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering in 1974. In 1991, he graduated from NJIT with a master’s in computer science. At NJIT he was a member of Tau Beta Phi and Ti Sigma Tau engineering honor societies. He worked as a professional engineer at Ingersoll-Rand, Rheem Textile Systems, John Dusenbery Company, and most recently Howman Engineering for the past 23 years. An avid history buff, David had many interests and hobbies including ragtime piano, carpentry, painting, fireworks, tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, driving his ’95 Mazda Miata, and caring for the 3 dogs his raised with his wife. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 5-8 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ 07940. A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Madison on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
