Dear Mr. & Mrs. Osbun and Mark,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in the loss of Jessie. I was saddened to read about her in The Beacon. I was Jessie's Calculus teacher at Neumann Prep when she was a senior. She was a remarkable student and I enjoyed having her in my class! It was a wonderful surprise to hear she became a mathematics teacher and was molding, creating, challenging, and nurturing young minds! May she rest in peace in Heaven. Life has not ended - but changed.

Sending our deepest sympathies to Jessie’s family and friends. My daughter and I never met Jessie personally as we live in Australia, but came to know her through groups involving her fav James Marsters. Jessie always included us in any event and fund raising activity, always sent us Christmas cards and helped me out with my somewhat silly questions via messenger when I wasn’t sure how to do things over the net. Always kind, always patient. A beautiful soul gone to soon.

Though I never met Jessie in person, I feel like I've known her for years through her involvement in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom. She was truly a bright light in the world, and that came through even through the magic of the internet. My sincerest condolences to all her family and friends.

Mrs. Wintle, you were the kindest soul with the biggest heart. Without you, I would not have gotten through sophomore and junior year at MCHS. Thank you for everything you did for me, and for every student that sat in your classroom. Thank you for setting the example that I carry on today, teaching my own students. You are loved and will be dearly missed.

This all still seems so unreal that I could lose such a great colleague and friend so suddenly and unexpectedly. It makes me realize even more how precious life is and to really ensure I cherish the moments with the people that matter in my life. Jessie was a wonderful, caring person who truly went the extra mile in all she took on. I met her in the County College of Morris Adjunct office years ago and we became immediate friends. Our discussions about classes, life in general, goals, all seemed so natural and it always seemed like we knew each other forever. Jessie was so passionate about her students and their success. I am going to miss seeing her crazy outfits on the holidays at CCM as I always was so stunned at her creativity in clothing as I knew it made the students smile.
I truly know that God has His plans for all of us but understanding His timing is often so difficult and this truly is one of those times. I can only assume that God needed a wonderful math teacher in heaven (as also said to me from an amazing Morris Catholic mom) and I am trying to smile knowing that if He chose you to be with Him now, we must still learn and teach math once we reach Paradise! You will be so missed, Jessie. You have been a great inspiration to me and amazing mentor while guiding me through employment opportunities. I know you are in an amazing place right now so watch over all of us who revered you!

It has been four years since I have been away from Morris Catholic HS Jessie made it seem like I was still there every day. She was a dear friend and a wonderful teacher. She was there for both my boys. My eldest son Chris became a mathematician because of her dedication to him through his years at MC. My youngest, Michael, Jessie taught to appreciate the power of math and today he credits her with his understanding of this subject area. Jessie was a gifted teacher that knew what each individual student needed and gave them each a future. We shared that love for math and science fiction. Today I am a writer of both fiction and a little science fiction. I have started on my new science fiction novel which I will dedicate to Mrs. Jessie Wintle for her inspiration and dedication to the known and the yet unknown. Thank you Jessie for always being there for me and my boys. I cannot imagine life without you but feel blessed that you were in my life and in the lives of those I love.

I have no words except to say the world is indeed a darker place with Jessie not in it. I have been a friend and colleague of Jessie's for over 25 years. A brilliant woman who taught math and English, subjects many would think opposing. One never knew what costume she would wear depending on the holiday or circumstance - Halloween, Pi day, Catholic Spirit week, Star Wars. Jessie never ceased to amaze - she was great fun and the hardest working person I have ever met. She always went the extra 10 miles for her students AND her friends. Her teaching colleagues have all discussed and agree a song that best fits her is from Wicked. "Because we knew you.... we have been changed for good." Love you, miss you, honored to have known you and called you friend.

I am a recently graduated student of hers at Morris Catholic, and I can undoubtfully say that she was one of the most helpful and optimistic teachers I have had the pleasure of learning from. Every moment in her class, I could tell she loved teaching the subject, and more importantly that she loved teaching us. She began every class with a guided prayer and would occasionally start the day with a fun fact, a small anecdote, or even a cute personality quiz to brighten our day before the lesson. She was always highly organized, cheerful, and never left a student behind if they told her they were confused. After class she would always spend time discussing her favorite movies or sharing her excitement over the next convention she would attend. Her selfless passion and personality shone like a beaming, unwavering ray of sunshine, and it's heartbreaking to know I won't experience it again. But I will always remember the irreplaceable love and joy she brought into my time as her student.
