Obituary of Jessie Wintle

Please share a memory of Jessie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jessie Wintle (née Osbun) passed away suddenly on March 1, 2022.

She was born on November 4, 1965 in Paterson, N.J. to William and Jessie Osbun.

Jessie was a passionate sci-fi/fantasy fan, and expressed love for both storytelling and people around her at her annual trips to conventions like Dragon*Con. She adored sharing her interests in Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Stargate, and Disney with friends, family, and students.

Jessie obtained her undergraduate degree from Rutgers College, where she met the love of her life, Mark Wintle. She went on to get her Masters of Education from Seton Hall University.

She worked as a math and English teacher in the Diocese of Paterson since 1987 and taught at Neumann Prep (her alma mater), Bayley-Ellard, the County College of Morris, and Morris Catholic.

She loved animals, and opened her home to her many pets including those she leaves behind: Caboodle, Castiel, and Sputnik.

An avid collector, creator, and cosplayer, she immersed herself in fantasy at Disney parks whenever she could. That delight and love of magic applied to all aspects of her life, from her generosity and kindness with friends and family to her lifelong impact on her students. Her patience and knowledge served as an inspiration to everyone who met her. She will be missed by every life she touched.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 4-6pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. (*Guests are respectfully requested to wear masks while indoors.)
