I am so sorry to hear of my friend Mary Ellen's passing. I knew her as a devoted daughter, mom, and friend.
A good person all around.

I am so shocked at Mary Ellen's passing. I went to high school with her and I always thought she was so stunningly beautiful. I am sorry that I never told her. I pray that she will RIP and am sending prayers to her family. She will be your guardian angel for eternity.
There is a Chinese proverb that says…..”Anyone can buy a house, but good neighbors are priceless”. MacDonald Acres is where my family (The Lockett’s) met The Cortese family close to 60 years ago.
I started hanging around the Cortese house when I was about 13 years old and quickly became “a mother’s helper” to MaryEllen. Kerry was this adorable little girl & MaryEllen was pregnant with Kurt. When Kurt was born MaryEllen would let me take him for walks and eventually I was spending everyday at the house. I used to push Kurt (and a few years later Stacy) around the neighborhood and tell everyone they were mine. I like to say MaryEllen had a lot to do with me honing my mom skills. She is the reason motherhood came so easy for me. I got to practice with real live dolls. MaryEllen even made me their GODMOTHER. And believe me I had to fight off all of Horsey’s sisters for that honor.
As I got older MaryEllen and I were like Thelma & Louise! We did some bat shit crazy stuff together. She was a friend that I didn’t get to see often but when we got together we picked up right where we left off no matter how many years went by.
I will be forever grateful for our friendship and I feel sad for all the years that went by where we weren’t in touch.
I am so thankful for the luck of the draw of having been neighbors. Our families will be forever connected.
MaryEllen…you may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

My condolences to the Cortese family on the passing of Mary Ellen. None of you know me but many years ago I taught your mother in 9th grade history in Wayne’s Anthony Wayne Jr HS. She was a a most kind and caring young girl with a beautiful smile. May she be resting in peace !
