Obituary of Helen P. Amelio
Helen Amelio, 87 passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 25, 2022.
She was the daughter of Bernadette Brobst and Louie “Dutch” Nickey and was an only child. She was born on February 2, 1935 in Milton, Pennsylvania and moved to Morristown, New Jersey as a young girl where she eventually met her husband, Carmen, and had four children together who she loved dearly.
She lived in Mendham, New Jersey for the past 25 years. She was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid antique collector for many years. She loved to cook and bake. Her mother-in-law taught her how to cook delicious Italian dishes, but meat and potatoes were her favorites. She was a very proud mother and grandmother, as well. She has touched our lives in many ways and she will always be in our hearts.
Helen was predeceased by her husband and her dog, Katie, who was her main companion after she lost her husband. She is survived by her four children, Teresa (husband, Lewis), Lori, Carmen Jr. (wife, Susan), Steven (wife, Agnes). She is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra and Daniel Agis, and Nicole Amelio and her cousin, Bonnie, who was like a sister to her.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
