Sympathy to the Walsh family upon the death of your patriarch Tom. When we moved to Ross Court almost 23 years ago, Mary Lou and Tom were among the first families to welcome us, with a delicious home baked zucchini bread. Later, in the fall we joined the block party which Tom had started. Those gestures helped us feel part of the neighborhood and part of Madison. Tom and Mary Lou showed me some shortcut routes through Drew to get to Green Village Road School, where school board elections were then held. Of course, that wouldn’t work now, since those areas have a newer history. I’ve been a member of the Madison Community Pool since moving to Madison, so I thank Tom Walsh for his role in being a founding member. I met some of you daughters over the years and heard about one of the Walshes living in Australia. I met the triplet grandchildren who must be close to 30 now. Mary Walsh came by her parents’ house once to hand shovel out significant snow from the driveway when I had to do the same. Tom and I kept up over the years with notes on Christmas cards. Around Christmas 2021 or New Years 2022, I returned a phone call to Tom; we had a nice ten minute conversation. I asked Tom about his children and only wish I had a pen and paper while he told me about each of you and where you lived. I even have two voicemail recordings still on my cell phone from last summer. I regret I cannot be at the viewing or the funeral mass. I will keep you all in my prayers. May you cling together as you recall all the different characteristics of your dad and granddad Tom Walsh that made him the unique person that he was. He leaves a legacy..
