Obituary of Patricia L. Malpere
Patricia “Pat” L. Malpere, 70, of Morristown, NJ passed away peacefully on August 3,2022 at Morristown Medical Center after a brief illness. Pat was born on June 10, 1952 in Elgin, Illinois to the late George and Elizabeth Lutton. A graduate of Madison High School class of 1970, Pat went on to study at University of Oregon and was a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu London Culinary Institute. Pat was a pioneer in her early career proving that women did indeed have a place in male-dominated professional kitchens. She worked at the Fifty Yard Line restaurant in Chatham Township, NJ where she met her husband of 26 years David W. Malpere, by whom she is predeceased.
An independent self-starter, Pat ran her own catering business, Beck & Call Catering, for 18 years prior to obtaining her real estate license after her long career as a professional chef. Pat was a realtor for 21 years with the Weichert Realtors, Mountain Lakes office. She was an active member of the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church and led many service projects through her membership in Martha Circle.
Pat loved spending time at the beach with her loved ones, large family gatherings, baking cookies, and time with friends. Pat was the beloved matriarch of her family and a mother figure and mentor to many more. Some of her happiest times were playing on the floor with any of her seven grandchildren who knew her as “Pima.” Patricia’s warmth, love, generosity and service mindset benefited many people, from her family and friends to her social and professional networks.
Patricia leaves behind her three children and their spouses, Justin and Christina Malpere of Hopatcong, NJ, Alaina and Will Rosenberry of Lowell, MA and Ross and Allie Malpere of Morris Plains, New Jersey and her seven grandchildren, Annie, Molly, David, James, Vivian, Silas, and Logan. She also leaves her siblings and their spouses, David Lutton and Louise Lutton of Ann Arbor, MI, Priscilla and Ed Bailey of Johnston, RI, her sisters in law, Mary Ann Allocco of Mt. Tabor, NJ, Poppy Malpere of Morristown, NJ, Heidi Passalacqua of Northfield, Vt, and Trina Greenzweig of Lake Hiawatha, NJ as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains, NJ 07950. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church.
