Marcella..or as we affectionately called her Marcie. My cousin Marcie. I think her name should have been Joy because this is what she brought whenever she entered a room. She had a way about her. Yes, she did. When she smiled yall..it was infectious it lit up a room. This smile would command an immediate response you couldn't help but smile. Dont forget the hugs yall it was like warm butter wrapped up in those arms. What it was..it was Love ..oh yes what she gave freely was love It was tangible. She was Intelligent. We all were so proud of her for her achievements she was an educator and mentor to others. Marcie was well-rounded and had it going on. I remember every Thanksgiving her family would travel down south to visit with us and Grandma for the holidays. Man ..that was awesome. Ronnie, Elaine, Marcella, and I would laugh and talk as we made the journey to Trinity to visit Uncle Thea. The food was delicious... spread out on that huge table...We would play outside till dark then make the drive back to Mt. Gilead our Homeplace. I have nothing but love to share when it involves Marcie. She took a little piece of my heart with her when she left us. I am assured that I will see her again one day ..I'm quite sure she will be waiting at the gate saying ...come on Millicent with that great big smile...I love you, Marcie, I treasured what we had. I will miss you, my love. We all will. We know we have lost a Jewel. I will never forget you, Sweetheart. I will take joy in remembrance.

Marcella was like a big sister to me growing up. Our families would spend a lot of time together because our fathers were such good friends. We all were blessed with her caring soul. She will be sorely missed.

My cousin Marcy will always be remembered as my favorite cousin. Every year that she would come down we would talk about the latest toys and music. Our favorite group was the “Beatles!” We knew all the songs and would update each other of the groups girlfriends, dates and any latest gossip. As we grew older she traveled extensively and kept me abreast of all the new things and people she met. Marcy had a kind heart and she met each challenge with a can do attitude. She visited me in Detroit and also where I reside currently, meeting my grandson Dominic and son Shaquille. She loved children and always had an inspiring message whenever she saw them.
Marcy was a devoted wife to her husband George until he was called to glory. She loved her sister Elaine and brother Ronnie. Marcy adored her Mother and demonstrated that love every day. My life has been better knowing her and I will never forget!
Rest in Christ Marcy….see ya in that great getting up day.
Cousin, Linda Kay Bowden-Cole

Ms. Wright is what I called her until she wed. She was my preschool teacher at Headstart. Over the years - we stayed in touch and had an annual date at the Shriners Circus. Just about 2 years ago she mailed me some photos from a circus. The 40 + years and she was always treated me with love. I’ll remember her good conversation, amazing memory, and her smile/ laugh. A beautiful, kind soul who cared for others, never to be forgotten . May she rest in the sweetest peace.
Sending heartfelt condolences to her loved ones.

Dearest Mrs. Wright and to the whole family I send my deepest condolences and my love. My heart aches for your family in this sudden loss of Marcella. Beloved memories of times we shared together will keep Marcella living in my heart forever. Since 5th grade when we 1st met, Marcella became more than a friend more like a sister. What a beautiful and kind soul. There are no words for me to express how painful this is and how much I will miss Marcella. Rest in peace dear friend.

To the family of Marcella Wright-Nelson: My sincere condolences to all. Marcella and I first met in September 1957, when we entered Kindergarten at the Lafayette K - 8th grade School on Hazel Street in Morristown, NJ. That was the beginning of our forever friendship!! We were good friends throughout our school years, graduating, with excitement, from MHS in June 1970…in spite of the thunderstorm on that day!!
We attended several class reunions together over the past 50 years, always enjoying each reunion. Marcella was a joy to my family, my parents, my children, and my grandchildren. Her spirit and fond memories will remain in my heart forever. I will miss you, Marcella. Rest In Heavenly Peace dear friend.
