Gerry had such a huge heart and welcoming spirit. The few times I was in his presence, it was evident that he was a giver his whole life. I am sincerely honored to have known him and am so very sad he has passed. My love and affection goes out to dear Mary and her beautiful family. My prayers, too.
May all the beautiful memories you hold of Gerry fill your hearts and bring you all peace.

I haven't seen Gerry in about 50 years, but I remember him with great affection, He managed to bring a light-hearted wit to the staid, super-serious seminary atmosphere of the 1960's. It comes as no surprise that he lived his whole life the same way, even while following the example of Jesus. Ray Wilmot

I am a cousin of the Gannon's by marriage. My wife Kathryn (Simpson) Foley, RIP, was Mary's first cousin. I am saddened with regard to Gerry's passing. During my many trips back to NJ and NY from Ca over the years, I would invariably have dinner at the Gannon's and with Gerry I had many great conversations regarding baseball...Gerry, although born in Brooklyn, was a 'converted' Yankee fan as I am. We even went to a few games at Yankee Stadium. I also enjoyed the many conversations we had regarding the Catholic faith of which I was born into as was Gerry. A bright guy with that Irish personality and sense of humor. My condolences to Mary and the entire family.

This man had a huge heart of service and touched so many lives… incredible. I never met this man, but I have the honor and privilege of having a friendship with his daughter, Janine. And now, it is quite clear, where she inherited her kindness, graceful, sincere, and caring character. My deepest sympathy to Janine, her mother, and family.

I never had the honor of meeting Jeannine's Dad. I see how accomplished & generous he was and I'm not surprised Jeannine is her Father.
So sorry for your loss Jeannine.
With deepest sympathy,

Sincere condolences to the entire Gannon Family and all your branches. Gerry certainly made an impact in many ways in his time on Earth. The world is a better place because of Gerry. Mary and Gerry were a team and their giving nature encouraged others to follow their example and help. Their circle grew wider by their selfless charity toward everyone they met. Gerry always had a smile for others. It was especially memorable to share in Gerry and Mary’s 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration about 2 1/2 years ago on their front lawn, wearing protective masks as we were still working out early Covid protocol. in On a personal level, I remember my then toddler grandson Liam following Gerry around in the garden while I helped Mary make preparations for a St. Vincent Academy Alumnae/Student event to take place at their modest welcoming home. Gerry never flaunted what he did, doing things quietly and never expecting praise. He will live in my heart as I remember his love for God and for others.
God Bless you, Mary and family.
Love from Noreen and Michael McManus

Knowing Gerry , one couldn't help but love him. Always optimistic and fun with the purest of heart. I called him Gerry ,the clown because no matter how down you feel he would make you laugh. I will always remember his advice' dnt worry until you have to worry, everything will be alright'
Rest in Perfect Peace Gerry. I am certainly going to miss our long talks and laughs.
To Mary, you are my new family. My love and support you have always.

I send my thoughts and prayers to you, your children, grand-children, and your sister, Barbara, too, over the loss of Gerry. It was always clear to me that you were soulmates; both deeply caring and concerned for others. I never saw Gerry without a warm smile on his face. Dear Mary our deepest condolences for the loss of Gerry.
When we arrived in the United States in rainy night in 2017 we met some people whom we didn’t know before waiting at the Newark airport.
Gerry was one of the people who was waiting for hours to welcome a family whom he never met before. We saw a welcoming smile and happiness in his face, like he met his own family after a long time.
We were surprised to meet him and other friends.
He was a kind soul who was helping people from around the world to resettle and have prosperous life here in the US.
Gerry, Marry and his friends held our hands to stand on our feet and be part of their community.
We thank you for your support and your life achievements of helping the needy.
Rest in peace

Dearest Mary, my sincere condolences for the loss of Gerry. When I met you both working for the Tarachi family coming from Afghanistan, I knew I was with a special pair of loving and caring people. And boy did that turn out to be true. Gerry accomplished so much in his amazing lifetime. RAMP has given me an opportunity to volunteer and be useful, as a tutor, an apartment preparer person and working with the school system. I am eternally thankful for this opportunity and feel blessed that I met you both.

To Mary and the family and friends:
Gerry loved it when those who were less fortunate succeeded in obtaining housing, employment, and education He and Mary found "room in the inn" for those closest to Jesus. Gerry has now entered the "mansion" prepared for him because he came to serve, not be served. I loved his sense of humor and would gravitate toward him for a good laugh. However, I am not sure he worked on those scones. Those were Mary's masterpieces. Rest in peace, Gerry.

Gerry Gannon said “Yes”
I was sitting on the floor of the Padovano’s living room in Morris Plains, during our Voice of the Faithful New Jersey coordinating team meeting in early 2015. Pope Francis proclaimed 2015 the “year of Mercy” and called on every parish in Europe to take in a refugee family. I said VOTFNJ was our parish, and we should try to do just that. Without any hesitation, Gerry said, “Yes!” and explained how he and Mary had been involved in assistance for Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s. Gerry took the reins and galloped with them. This was the beginning of Refugee Assistance Morris Partners, RAMP.
Gerry said “Yes” to a multitude of wonderful things. He said, “Yes” to the priesthood. He said, “Yes” to a loving marriage with Mary. He said” Yes” to fatherhood and a blessed family. He said “Yes” to working for civil and human rights, to making our world a more just and peace-filled place, to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, always with a smile on his face and a glint in his eyes, and never asking anything in return.
On Christmas Day (so very fittingly) Gerry said “Yes” once more to the calling of the Divine Presence to begin something again, his new life in God. We are bereft by his passing, but we know that he now is asking us all to say “Yes” every time we can do good and make a difference whenever and however, we can.
