Obituary of John Francis Hughes, Jr.

  John F. Hughes Jr. peacefully passed away at the age of 64 in the company of his family.  John is survived by his two sons, Patrick and Peter, parents John F. Sr. and Patricia Hughes, and sisters Eileen Lovering and Kathy Howard.

Born April 13, 1960 in Orange, New Jersey John was raised in Chatham and graduated in 1978 from Chatham High School.  He completed his bachelor’s degree in computer science and marketing at Seton Hall University. 

John was a devoted father and entrepreneur who demonstrated an exuberance and enthusiasm for his life’s passions and those of his children.  He successfully owned and operated Hughes Fire & Security Systems Inc., a cherished family business which recently celebrated 62 years.  John served two terms as President and was a board member of the New Jersey Alarm Association (NJELSA).

John enjoyed time fishing and weekends at the family lake house at Lake Wallenpaupack, PA where he was a member of the Paupack Hills Golf Club.  A devoted NHL hockey ticket holder for years, he was also a Giants and Yankees fan.  He will be remembered by his family and friends for delicious home-cooked meals, love of classic rock, and his admirable, caring disposition. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison, NJ Wednesday, May 29th at 10:30am.  All are welcome to arrive at 10:00am to pay their respects.
