My fondest memory of my Cousin Ann comes from a Thanksgiving when I was about 10 years old. To understand this memory you have to know we spent a lot of time together as families - our Grandmother and Aunt Annabelle (Ann's Mom) were sisters and lived in the same town so the families were naturally close. We usually spent Thanksgiving together at our house, or someone's house in the family and trust me when I tell you Cousin Ann and my Mom were both GREAT cooks! Well, this year we went to my Dad's family because they complained we never went there - and it was not a good meal. Even as a kid I knew that was not a good turkey and the sides were nothing like they were usually! Well, we got in the car after dinner (remember pre cell phone and you certainly could not use the hosts houses phone to say the dinner was bad we are headed to you hungry!) and drove to Ann's house and VIOLA dinner was reheated, put back on the table, and we were so excited to have a great thanksgiving meal. But was strikes me now about that memory is how Cousin Ann was so happy to see us, so excited to share her delicious meal for us, and how it felt just like home to be there. She was ALWAYS that way, so warm and welcoming of us all. Truly a lovely lady and she will forever be in my prayers.
