I am so very sorry to hear of Carmela's passing, I thought she was doing better in recent months. She persevered through a very unkind illness for years when many would have given up.
Carmela and I worked together at Exxon, and were friends for over 35 years. She was smart and capable. She loved life and people and always had a smile on her face and a story to tell. She had a natural enthusiasm that shone through no matter what job she tackled.
I attended her and Hal's wedding, and what a beautiful gala celebration it was. She lived life to the fullest and was a great friend. I think now she is smiling down on all of us.
My sincere condolonces to Hal and Carmela's family.

Carmela and Hal 25th anniversary party.
We became friends at Exxon and the friendship continued even stronger when we were retired.
Carmela loved to entertain and cook, and then play Trivia. Trivial Pursuit will never ever seem the same.
We enjoyed so many days sharing good times and good food. Carmela would start the summer with her annual Memorial Day BBQ.
All our love
Carol and Len

Carmela was my friend and the big sister I never had. We first met in 1961 when she came out from New Jersey to visit her grandmother. I had recently immigrated to San Jose, California and didn't have many friends. We bonded instantly, and over the years continued to keep our friendship strong.
We shared laughter, secrets, struggles and an understanding of what it's like growing up Italian! Even though we lived across the country from each other, we kept in touch with letters and phone calls. We also went on many trips together. I’ll never forget our trip to New Orleans when she almost got us thrown in jail! It was the best trip we had.
Crazy, funny and loving life, that was Carmella. She was smart, witty, confidant and proud, a force to be reckoned with. She helped me through some tough situations and gave great support and guidance. She’d always let you know how she felt, but also had a lot of compassion and kindness, and truly cared. These past couple of years took a toll on her and I'm angry that cancer took my best friend. I admire how hard she fought and was blessed to have her in our lives. No matter what she was going through, she always had a joke and a contagious laugh. Over 60 years of friendship, I will greatly miss our weekly calls, her voice, and laughter.
Riposa in pace la mia anima sorella,
Maria

I first met this great lady, who became a dear friend, in 1992 shortly after moving to Chatham after marrying. The local bookstore, Buchmeister Books, was owned by Carmela and her husband Hal Moeller. I frequented there weekly to find my British magazines and Royal books. Both Carmela and Hal became dear and lifelong friends. Her faith was deep, as was her sense of humor, right up until our last visit just a few weeks ago. I shall miss seeing her, hearing her, receiving her texts and funny jokes. May the angels welcome Carmela to paradise and May Our Lady bring solace to all who love and miss her.
