Obituary of Carmela Marano Moeller
CARMELA MARANO MOELLER - PROUD MADISON RESIDENT & ROTARIAN
Carmela Marano Moeller, 78, passed away on August 12, 2024 after a courageous years long battle with cancer.
Born on August 18, 1945 in Newark NJ to her parents Pasquale and Giuseppina Marano, Carmela was raised in Elizabeth NJ, attended Sacred Heart High School and Berkely Secretarial School. She enjoyed a long career at Exxon, working in New York City, Houston and NJ, where she met her husband of 33 years, Hal Moeller. Together, they operated Buchmeister Books, a Chatham bookstore, for many years along with the store's official greeter, their beloved dachshund Schatzi.
Carmela was a parishioner of St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church in Madison where she sung in their choir. She was a very active Madison Rotarian, serving as president and recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Carmela was a gracious host who loved to entertain and serve her delicious cooking - especially her Italian meals and desserts. She enjoyed attending live theater and tending to her flower garden. But her true passion was helping others through her dedicated service to the Rotary Club and its mission of service over self.
She is survived by her devoted husband Hal Moeller, brother Rudy Marano and his wife Melonie, niece Gabriella and her husband John along with great niece Sophie Bella, and niece Carla and husband Garrett.
Family and friends are invited to her visitation at Burroughs Kohr and Danger Funeral Home at 106 Main St. Madison, NJ on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 5-8pm.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated the following morning at 10:00am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Rd., Madison, NJ. (For those who cannot attend the Mass, it will be live-streamed via the Church’s website: www.svmnj.org.) Inurnment of Ashes will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery Columbarium, Madison.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Madison Rotary (https://www.madisonrotarynj.org/ or 111 Kings Rd., Madison, NJ 07940), or Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps (https://www.madisonems.org/ or 29 Prospect St., Madison, NJ 07940).
